Psychiatry, Therapy, & Mental Health Care in Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Lauren Rivas, MA, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor

Healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. Whether you're navigating the effects of trauma, managing anxiety or depression, facing a major life transition, or feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, you don't have to do it alone.

I'm Lauren Rivas, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with more than 16 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds facing complex emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. My goal is to provide a therapeutic experience that is both supportive and empowering—one where you feel safe to explore your story, develop new insights, and create lasting change.

My practice is rooted in authenticity, curiosity, and collaboration. I believe every person possesses the capacity for healing, and therapy should be individualized to honor your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, I partner with my clients to identify patterns that may no longer serve them, build practical coping strategies, and foster resilience through life's challenges.

I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, family conflict, shame, guilt, anger, domestic violence, compassion fatigue, and stress-related disorders. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) alongside other evidence-based approaches to help clients process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and move toward healing.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve as the Executive Director of Teaching Humane Existence, where I lead innovative behavioral health programs and collaborate with professionals across Colorado to improve access to high-quality mental health services. My professional experience also includes clinical supervision, consultation, professional training, and expert testimony, allowing me to bring both depth and breadth of experience into my work with clients.

Above all, I believe therapy is about more than symptom reduction. It is about helping you reconnect with your strengths, cultivate meaningful relationships, and build a life that feels authentic, balanced, and fulfilling. My role is to provide guidance, challenge unhelpful patterns with compassion, and equip you with practical tools so that you leave therapy feeling more confident and capable than when you began.

If you're ready to begin your journey toward healing, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
